Prior to attending Undergraduate School in August 1998, Pastor McIlwain graduated from Irmo High School in June 1995, where he was nominated and elected from his senior class to deliver the "High School" Graduation Commencement Prayer. While a senior in high school, Pastor McIlwain was honored with a "South Carolina Heroic Award" for saving an elderly woman's life in a life-threatening situation.
Currently, Pastor McIlwain is providing his congregation at Rocky Creek, with a strong teaching and preaching that indeed is relevant to their everyday lives; and as a result, the church is experiencing tremendous growth. The church is enhancing in numerical growth, financial growth and more importantly, spiritual growth.
Pastor McIlwain, only age 36, is a powerful, uncompromising preacher of the Gospel affectionately known, by his sermonic exhortation, and energetic presentation of the gospel. Pastor McIlwain, through the use of descriptive language and expressive gestures, provides every audience with a vivid mental image of Scriptural language, while illustrating the magnitude of God's restorative power. He is also a talented vocalist.
Pastor McIlwain also delivered the opening prayer at the State House Capital Grounds; taught classes at the Young People Christian Assembly, Benedict College; and listed in the Outstanding Young Men of America Encyclopedia (c.f. 1998 edition); as well as continually rendering countless engagements and revivals.
Pastor McIlwain greatest joy is to: preach the Gospel, reach the lost, reclaim those astray and challenge the saved. - Let's pray today, for a mighty word from Heaven, through Pastor McIlwain's preparation!
